Hello, I share a 5 bedroom/3 bathroom, split-level house with three other ladies in College Park, MD. I am moving to Montgomery County and need someone to take over my lease starting September 1, 2009 (or earlier; the move-in date is negotiable). My bedroom is the master bedroom with a walk-in closet, its own bathroom, and a lovely accent wall that you must see! A little about the house: There are 3 bedrooms upstairs including the master bedroom, an office, and another bedroom that has its own bathroom by default. Downstairs there is a fully-finished basement and 2 more bedrooms, a bathroom, and the laundry room with one washer and one dryer. Upstairs you'll find another living room and a very spacious kitchen with a dishwasher, garbage disposal, exhaust fan, stove/oven, oven/range-electric, range hood, and refrigerator. There’s central AC and heating and there are vents throughout the house. There is an application process and deposit would be due immediately if you decide to move in. Additionally, first month’s rent would be due slightly before September 1st as we mail out our rent check a few days before the first of the month. If you're interested, we can set up a time for you to come by and see the place for yourself. In the meantime, here are all the details to get you started: Location: College Park, Maryland (near MD-495 and MD-295) Neighborhood: Berwyn Heights (nearest cross street is Route 1/Baltimore Avenue and Berwyn House Road). This house is located in the DC metro area, about a 20 minute drive to downtown DC. Closest metro station: College Park Metro (green line). The station is about 1.6 miles from the house. Metro buses 83 and 86 and Bus 17 all pick up across the street from our place on Route 1 and will take you directly to the metro station if you don’t drive. Closest shopping center: Shoppers/Home Depot about a mile north on Route 1 Closest University: University of Maryland about a half mile south on Route 1 Type of house: split-level with a fully-finished basement, huge backyard (not enclosed), small patio, and deck. Sorry but our landlord does not allow us to have any pets. Number of bedrooms: 5 (3 upstairs and 2 downstairs - we currently use the 5th and smallest bedroom as an office) Number of bathrooms: 3 Number of living rooms: 2 Parking: Our driveway fits three cars comfortably, but of course in order for the first two cars to get in and out, the last car in the driveway will have to be moved to let someone out. There's also plenty of FREE street parking. All three of my current roommates have cars and there hasn't been an issue. Lease start date: 9/1/09 (or slightly before, we can talk about that) Lease end date: 5/24/2010 Application fee: $25 Deposit: $493.75 due immediately if you decide to move in Rent: $493.75/month Utilities: About $80/month Extras: Comcast double play (internet and cable) is roughly $111/month (of course this is divided by four) Note: I've been here two years and my total monthly expenditures have been no less than $560 and no more than $650 (the $650 comes about every three months when we have to pay the water bill). On average, you can expect to pay about $600/month for everything including cable, internet, and phone! I know, it's a steal!!! =) About your roommates: Your roommates are three ladies who all attend the University of Maryland at College Park. Two of the ladies are graduate students and the other is an undergraduate student. They are lovely, clean, respectful, non-smokers, and quiet women. About you: Clean, considerate, quiet, no pets, undergraduate, graduate student and/or working professional, male or female, wants to share the responsibilities of living in a house (i.e., keeping shared areas/spaces clean, taking out the trash and recycling, and general upkeep), and is just a cool person! =) I think I covered everything, but please send me an email if you have any questions or are interested in coming to look at the house. The house is located walking distance from the campus on Adelphi Rd. right before Wells Pkwy. Bus stop to campus and to Town Center (PG plaza) are a 10 second walk away. The house contains all guys split between a top and bottom floor. Both floors have a kitchen, exit to the outdoors and a livingroom. 4 car driveway if parking is needed, and since the bus is close you save the $200+ on a campus parking permit. As for the room... Hardwood floors. Bigger than commons apartment, approx the size of courtyards. The room has its own full bathroom (the only room in the whole house that gets that luxury.) We have two rooms in our basement that we will rent starting this summer. Our house is is a really nice, quiet neighborhood and very nice for graduate students who are focused on studying. The space we are renting consists of two rooms that are both furnished. One you can use as a bedroom, and the other you can use as your living room/study. We are the home owners, and we are living in the house. You will have your own private entrance, so you have privacy. When you walk in, you have to walk through the laundry area. We also use this area, so we will show up there from time to time. However, we assume you will want your privacy, so we are willing to work it out with you so it is not intrusive. You have your own bathroom with a shower stall (no tub). There is no formal kitchen. But, there is a small area just outside your rooms where we are providing a microwave, coffee pot, rice cooker, and basic utensils. There is a small refrigerator and a sink. If you don't need to do a lot of elaborate cooking, it will work fine for you. If you are a UMD student, you don't need to have a car. The campus is a nice walk or bike ride from here. Food shopping would be a bit of a challenge without transportation, but we have a freezer you are welcome to use. We are still working on the furnishings. We just aren't sure what all you need, but we are willing to be flexible and to purchase a couple of items to make the space very livable as long as they are within reason.
